In order to promote China's brands and products, better wedge into British and European markets, 146 Chinese companies attend the "European Showcase for Brands of China 2015" that held in the National Exhibition Center of Birmingham from Sept. 6 to Sept. 9.
The showcase, which is hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), is part of the exhibition of Birmingham's Autumn Fair. It is also the 13th consecutive years for MOFCOM holding such a Chinese products promotion event in Britain.
One hundred and forty six selected Chinese brand enterprises from China showcase themselves in 156 booths covering an overall exhibition area of 3,500 square meters, according to data from the organizer.
The main categories of exhibits include household products and accessories, home decorations, consumer electronics and electrical appliances, kitchen and dining products, plastic ware, gifts and handicrafts, ceramics, sanitary ware, bags and luggage, and toys, etc.
The exhibits are not only traditional Chinese products, but also new products reflecting the innovation and development of China.
Jia Guoyong, Deputy Director General of Trade Development Bureau at MOFCOM, said:" In 2014, the Sino-Britain bilateral trade and economic relationship has achieved new breakthrough. The fields of cooperation are opened wider with a deeper level, with an unprecedented growing trend. In 2014, the Sino-Britain trade volume reached a record high of over 80 billion U.S. dollars, with an annual increase of 15 percent."
Stewart Ferguson, Director of Research & Consultancy at CBBC, a Sino-Britian business promotion body, told Xinhua that British market is relatively smaller than that of the European continent. And it is mature, with very solid supply chain. Therefore this kind of showcase is very important opportunity for Chinese enterprises to show their brands and products to the UK partners and customers.
"Seeing is believing. And also at the show like this, all the Chinese companies here are supported by their local administrative office. They are all genuine companies, you can come here to meet the sales managers to see the physical products, to look what the quality is like," he said.
