Lenovo Group, the Beijing-based PC giant, wants to acquire more than 30 percent market share of the global PC industry, said Yang Yuanqing, the president and CEO, in Beijing on Monday.
According to statistics from IDC, Lenovo is the largest PC vendor in the world, enjoying 21 percent of market share in the third quarter of 2015. Worldwide PC shipments totaled nearly 71 million units in the third quarter of 2015, a fall of 10.8 percent year-on-year.
"The contraction of the PC market worldwide was affected by the macro economic situation, especially the currency depreciation in some European and Latin American countries. The boom in the smartphone industry in emerging countries also had some role in the decline, but I am quite optimistic about the outlook of the PC industry," said Yang.
"More people will find that they need a more powerful, larger screen and Internet-accessible device more than a smartphone. The PC industry boosts a market worth $200 billion and the sector is poised for further innovation and integration," Yang added.
Just two days before the online shopping spree in China on Nov 11, Lenovo announced three new products of Yoga series.
The debut of these three new products, Yoga Tab 3 Pro, Yoga 4 Pro and MIIX 4, also marked that Yoga has become one of the important sub brands of Lenovo. Yoga series were born in 2012, expanding from multi-mode laptops at the beginning to tablet products.
"Lenovo has always dedicated and preserved in ingenuity to build quality. Just because of Lenovo's innovation and persistence, Yoga products gained favor of users and fans around the world," said Yang.
Equipped with all-new Intel 'Skylake' core processor, Lenovo's new flagship convertible laptop, Yoga 4 Pro weighs only 1.29 kg with the thickness of 14.9mm, the thinnest multi-mode laptop in the world.
Yoga 4 Pro offers versions with Core i5 or Core i7 Skylake processor, priced at 8,499 yuan and 11,999 yuan, respectively.
Featured by a built-in 180-degree rotatable projector and along with four JBL speakers on the front, Yoga Tab 3 Pro is poised as the ideal entertainment tablet created by Lenovo, priced at 3,499 yuan.
Lenovo refreshed its 2-in-1 tablet products by MIIX 4, a smart device created for mobile Internet application priced at 5,499 yuan.
The three new products are available from November 9 through the official online shopping website of Lenovo and JD.com. At the launch ceremony, Yang Yuanqing and Tong Fuyao, head of Lenovo's China business, promised 10 random free orders among the first 200 orders via online shop.
The upcoming November 11 shopping bonanza, also known as "Singles' Day", has become a battlefield for both domestic and foreign tablet vendors. Apple Inc announced that the iPad Pro, the largest screen tablet ever made by the world's No 1 tablet vendor, will be available for online pre-order on Nov 11.
