Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group will cooperate with four third-party inspection institutions to cater to customers' increasing demand for high-quality products while helping domestic manufacturers to upgrade, the company announced Tuesday.
Alibaba initiated a new service named "Zhongguozhizao" which literally means it focuses on quality, at its e-commerce platform Taobao.com in April to provide a sales channel for manufacturers and factories which used to process products for foreign brands.
Cooperating with China Certification and Inspection Group, Swiss inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS, German inspection agency TUV, as well as the French-based quality inspection firm Bureau Veritas, Alibaba will introduce more professional but stricter inspection services to manufacturers on the platform so the quality of the commodities can be guaranteed.
So far, the platform has attracted more than 4,500 manufacturers and enterprises with average daily sales of more than 40 million yuan (6.24 million U.S. dollars), said Zhang Qin, vice president of Taobao.com, at a e-commerce summit in Beijing.
Alibaba's president Jin Jianhang said that Alibaba will increase its input in the future to help Chinese manufacturers compile standards, market their brands and build a talent-fostering system.
