The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, said Tuesday that it would "temporarily delay" adjustments to the gasoline price at present as keeping the price "stable when it's low" will be conducive to reducing fast consumption of oil and protecting the environment.
China is faced with increasing pollution and car emissions are a major source of pollution. The leverage of gasoline pricing is an important measure to counter the waste of resources and air pollution, the NDRC said in a statement on Tuesday.
