Beijing's animation, comic and game (ACG) industry is experiencing a boom, with its 2015 output value accounting for about one third of the country's total.
The ACG industry made 45.5 billion yuan (6.9 billion U.S. dollars) last year, a year-on-year increase of 22.3 percent, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture.
Export value also ranked the first in the country in 2015, rising 39.7 percent year on year to 5.87 billion yuan, the bureau said.
Beijing's ACG industry is on the rise, with a survey by Beijing Chukong Technology Co., Ltd saying that Beijing residents spend 43 percent of their time on the subway playing mobile phone games.
Beijing set up a copyright protection commission for the ACG industry in November to support intellectual property rights.
The organization will take a variety of measures to counter problems in the ACG industry such as a dearth of original work, an incomplete industrial chain and insufficient protection for copyright, according to Wang Ying, the commission director.
