A Ministry of Commerce (MOC) official on Sunday said that he expected the European Commission (EC) to strictly follow the World Trade Organization (WTO) rules on its anti-dumping investigation into Chinese steel exports.
On Feb. 13, the EC said in a notice that it would investigate steel imports including seamless tubes and launch provisional anti-dumping measures on cold-rolled flat steel products originating from China.
The MOC official said the EC should be prudent, restrained and lawful in employing trade remedy instruments.
China always advocates dialogue to tackle the problems, the official said.
