Taiwan's unemployment rate was 3.87 percent last month, flat from December but 0.16 percent higher than January 2015, according to Taiwan's statistics agency on Thursday.
There were around 453,000 unemployed people in Taiwan by the end of January, compared with 11.24 million employed, the agency said in a press release.
The unemployment rate of the young (15 to 24 years old) was 11.95 percent, compared with 4.06 percent for the 25-44 age range, and 2.09 percent for those aged between 45 and 64.
The agency said in a separate statement that the average monthly salary in Taiwan was around 48,490 new Taiwan dollars (about 1,460 U.S. dollars), up 2.52 percent from a year ago.
Their average monthly working time was 175.3 hours, down 2.6 hours from a year earlier.
