Alibaba Group Holding on Thursday announced it will jump onto the bandwagon of virtual reality (VR).
The e-commerce giant set up a laboratory, dubbed "GM Lab", in an attempt to create a new and immersive shopping experience via VR technology, according to a press release the company sent to the Global Times Thursday.
The lab also pledged to produce high-quality VR content in partnership with Alibaba's entertainment arms, including movies, music and online videos.
