Internet giant Baidu Inc will launch an artificial intelligence project called the "Verne Plan" on Friday to turn science fantasies into scientific realities, read a statement it sent to the Global Times Monday.
The plan is named after Jules Gabriel Verne, the renowned French science fiction writer of the 19th century who penned such classics as Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Baidu has invited top scientists and science fiction writers to be consultants for the plan, including Liu Cixin, Chinese author of the popular science fiction novel The Three Body Problem.
