Shanghai General Motors Co. began a recall of 44,096 Chevrolet vehicles in China on Friday due to radio software defects.
The recall involves Chevrolet Trax models manufactured between Oct. 28, 2013 and April 24, 2016, and Chevrolet Aveo sedans produced between July 6, 2012 and March 2, 2015, according to a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, China's top quality watchdog.
Radio software in the affected vehicles may not be properly installed and may short of international standards, said the statement.
The automaker promised to check and update the software free of charge.
