China will import goods worth more than 10 trillion U.S. dollars over the next five years, the chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said Thursday.
"I think it will bring more opportunities to world manufacturers and traders," said Jiang Zengwei, chairman of the CCPIT, at the China Import Expo, which opened Thursday in eastern China's Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province.
Jiang also said China will invest more than 600 billion U.S. dollars in foreign countries over the next five years and implement several hundred major projects, offering a wealth of investment opportunities for foreign companies.
A total of 877 enterprises from 42 countries and regions participated in this year's expo, which is co-organized by China's Ministry of Commerce, the CCPIT and the government of Jiangsu Province.
