A plausibility study is underway to prepare for the proposed London-Shanghai Stock Connect programme, with an official project update expected by the end of the year.
Sherry Madera, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Director General of UK Trade and Investment, made the commitment at a Lujiazui Forum 2016 sideline meeting, on Sunday morning.
She said the plausibility study covered technical collaborations, infrastructure and research for true demands.
British Consul-General of Shanghai, John Edwards, said China and the UK had been collaborating on a wide range of aspects in the financial market, including issuance of offshore renminbi-denominated bonds, green finance, investor education and infrastructure.
Britain is the guest country of honor at the Lujiazui Forum 2016.
