Chinese ride-hailing service giant Didi Chuxing reportedly denied plans to purchase Uber China on Thursday.
"We have no plans to merge with Uber China and we don't comment on rumors," said Didi Chuxing, domestic news portal stcn.com reported on Thursday.
Some institutional investors are pushing Uber China to sign a partnership agreement with Didi, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
It said both are throwing money in China to fight for dominance.
Didi has seen 14 million drivers sign up in more than 400 Chinese cities, Didi Chuxing President Liu Qing said in June at the 2016 China Internet Conference in Beijing.
Uber China hopes to operate in 100 Chinese cities this year, according to Bloomberg.
