Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts jointly announced the launch of the ICBC Shangri-La platinum credit card at the China World Summit Wing Beijing on July 28.
Seven representatives from the first group of ICBC Shangri-La cardholders were invited to the event. All VIP customers of ICBC and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, they said that they were looking forward to the triple membership points and other superior benefits that come with the card.
According to the latest data released by Payments Source, a global payment industry news and analysis website, the number of credit cards issued by ICBC has reached 115 million, making ICBC the world's largest credit card issuer.
Shangri-La is ICBC's first credit card partner in the hospitality industry. A renowned luxury hotel group, Shangri-La currently operates 98 Shangri-La hotels and resorts worldwide. The partnership between ICBC and Shangri-La is built on the shared value of both brands and will consistently provide their customers with excellent services and exclusive rewards.
The ICBC Shangri-La credit card features ICBC's special financial function, which supports 10 foreign currencies on one card: US dollar, euro, Hong Kong dollar, pound, yen, Singapore dollar, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Swiss franc, and New Zealand dollar.
Its special chip and high-end technology provide more secure and convenient payment services at home and abroad through partnership with UnionPay, MasterCard and Visa.
Besides being a fully functional ICBC platinum credit card, the ICBC Shangri-La credit card is also a Shangri-La Golden Circle member card and gives cardholders automatic Shangri-La membership points through credit card consumption.
In addition to its financial functions, the ICBC Shangri-La credit card offers unparalleled privileges and benefits during guests' stay at all Shangri-La properties worldwide. Cardholders are entitled to triple membership points for spending at all Shangri-La hotels and resorts. They can also enjoy a 15 percent discount when dining at Shangri-La hotels and are exempt from the card's first annual fee.
Additional promotions include a 10 percent discount on certain guest rooms at Shangri-La hotels and resorts; up to 20 percent off annual membership fees for fitness centers; fast-tracked membership upgrades; and 1,000 bonus golden circle award points for new cards upon spending more than 30,000 yuan ($4512.6) within three months after the card is issued.
