Property agents throughout China may not offer such financial products and services as down payment loans to clients, according to a statement jointly released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and other six authorities, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Tuesday.
The statement said that clients should have the right to choose financial institutions to apply for loans, instead of being placed by realtors.
Authorities ordered domestic property agents to carefully examine their housing information, according to CCTV.
A platform for credit management in China's real estate agent industry will be set up, and "seriously dishonest" agencies and employees may be banned from working in the sector.
