Apple Inc unveiled a series of production line updates on Thursday morning, demonstrating its latest tech breakthroughs on smart watches, smartphones and wireless earphones.
Some of the rumored features for the new iPhone, including the dual "stick out" rear cameras, two new black colors and no headphone jack have been confirmed by the Cupertino company during the product launch event.
"iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus dramatically improve every aspect of the product experience, reaching a new level of innovation and precision to make this the best iPhone we have ever made," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
However, some of the highlighted functions of the new device, such as the dual rear cameras, dust and water resistance and headphone jack free, have already been utilized by Chinese Android phone makers.
Zhang Congying, a Chinese Apple enthusiast who stayed up late to watch the live streaming of the event, told China Daily that many technologies may not be firstly introduced by Apple on the consumer electronics products, but the company has always been the best for implementation.
"The new iPhone continually carries out the design theory of Apple, which is being simple, fashion and user friendly," said James Yan, research director at Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
"Although there was no big surprise for the device, I think the product will do well in its first 5 month in China and the afterward market performance relies on whether its competitors will launch devices with equal competitiveness in the country," Yan said.
"It's a bit of regretful that there has no fast charging function introduced in the new phone, and the improvement of the battery life may not be palpable, but the upgrade of the cameras and waterproof feature are satisfying to me," said Wang Qiao, an independent IT critic.
Wang said the new iPhones' influence on the interior design structure of the smartphone would surpass the industry's expectations.
