China's ICT group Huawei said here Thursday it has launched in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the "Seeds for the Future Education Challenge 2016," a national competition involving six universities across the Gulf Arab state.
The aim of the challenge is to encourage UAE students to develop innovation, said Huawei in a media briefing earlier on Thursday.
The competition is being held from September to December 2016 and is designed to make Emirati students leave the theory taught in classrooms aside and get them in touch with the practical world of information and communications technology (ICT), Huawei said.
The competition will see 36 teams competing against each other to create, design and produce innovative concepts that help advance ICT innovation or have a positive impact on business through innovation.
The top six teams will have the opportunity to visit Huawei's headquarters in China to attend a two-week intensive training program, with the top three teams receiving prizes in recognition for their concepts.
