Walmart opened five stores in five Chinese cities on Thursday. The cities are widely scattered in the nation in provinces such as North China's Shanxi Province, Central China's Hunan Province, Southwest China's Yunnan Province and North China's Tianjin Municipality.
So far, there are four stores each in Changsha, Hunan Province and Tianjin, and 12 stores in Kunming, Yunnan Province. Walmart China had more than 400 stores in 168 cities as of the end of July.
In June, it said it had formed a strategic alliance with online platform jd.com.
