On Nov. 28, China UnionPay's branch company UnionPay International announced that its cards can now be used at 90 percent of ATMs and 70 percent of POS machines in Australia. Half of all local shops also accept UnionPay's Cloud Pay.
Meanwhile, UnionPay disbursement services for Chinese students overseas is expected to undergo improvements, as the Australian Department of Migration enacted a Simplified Student Visa Framework beginning July 1, marking the relaxation of study-abroad policies. A spokesperson for UnionPay explained that they are working to improve payment security in popular destinations, to satisfy overseas students' requirements for safer and more convenient transactions.
In recent years, with UnionPay's innovative products and services landing in Australia, the company is pushing forward acceptance of its Quick Pass and Cloud Pay systems, as well as encouraging cardholders to use chips cards for improved security.
Moreover, UnionPay emphasizes the importance of risk prevention measures for its cooperative institutions and clients overseas, together with improved system-testing and compliance management.
