The number of passengers handled by Lhasa Konggar Airport in Tibet exceeded 3 million this year, showing the rapid development of its civil aviation industry.
The airport in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, opened in 1965. It saw passenger numbers exceed 1 million in 2006 and 2 million in 2013.
"The rapid growth in passenger numbers at Lhasa airport shows people's confidence in Tibet's social stability, and is a symbol of the rapid economic development of Tibet," said a senior regional civil aviation official.
Currently, Tibet has 71 flight routes.
