A national auto-themed debating competition of college students concluded on Nov 4 at Chongqing University, inspiring the young to think about mobility and road safety.
The annual competition drew participants from 31 universities across the country this year to share their thoughts on topics including green mobility, safe driving and car-hailing services, with the team from Southwest University winning the competition. Initiated in 2005, the event has become one of the most widely received ones of its kinds among college students in China.
Liu Zhongsheng, vice-president responsible for human resources at Changan Ford, a sponsor of the event, said the young are where the future of companies and the country lies in and also a driving force of the automotive development.
The competition was part of Changan Ford's campus-related initiative. The automaker has been promoting the concept of green and safe driving among university students since 2009.
Changan Ford also drove onto campus with its fleet of models during the debating competition this year, offering students opportunities to enrich their knowledge about cars.
Jiang Xuexiao, a member of the Southwest University's debating team, said the event allowed him to meet excellent debaters from other universities and at the same time learn more about cars.
