Four local mobile payment platforms in Hong Kong, India, the Philippines and Thailand have been included as payment options for online shopping during the "Double 12" shopping event, according to media reports on Monday.
AlipayHK, India's Paytm, the Philippines' GCash and Thailand's Truemoney will be accepted for payments on Alibaba's shopping sites during the global shopping event on December 12, launched by Alibaba four years ago, news website china.com reported, citing Alibaba's Ant Financial.
Douglas Feagin, president of international business at Ant Financial, said the move is a strategic upgrade of Ant Financial's global push, according to the report.
Alibaba has invested in or formed partnerships with all the of four mobile payment platforms.
