China received more than two million new copyright registrations in 2016, an increase of 22 percent, according to official figures revealed on Tuesday.

Registrations for copyright works accounted for nearly 80 percent of last year's total registrations, according to the National Copyright Administration of China.

New software copyright registrations in 2016 doubled from 2014 to 400,000.

China's copyright registrations in a single year hit one million for the first time in 2013, and totaled 1.64 million in 2015, the administration said.
