China's Ambassador to Spain Lyu Fan said Spain has already been an attractive destination for Chinese investors.
He made this statement at a Tuesday event here called "Trends of the Chinese investments in Spain," which was organized by KPMG, one of the Big Four auditors, and ESADE Business School of Spain.
"Spain is already an attractive destination for Chinese investors," the ambassador said, "because of its natural resources, comparative advantages, sectors and open and free atmosphere for businesses," he said.
Lyu Fan hailed Spain's economic recovery, highlighting the improvement led by the policies of the government.
Spain is the seventh destination of Chinese investment within the European Union, he highlighted.
Meanwhile, he stated China's intention to be more open, create a good atmosphere for foreign investment and trade.
Hilario Albarracin, president of KPMG Spain, emphasized the assets Spain has as an investors' destination.
"The growth of the Spanish economy, above other European countries' growth, the quality of the infrastructures and its strategic role as a platform towards Latin America, allowed it to be an important partner for China," he said.
Spain's State Secretary for Trade, Marisa Poncela, said the Spanish government has supported trade ties between China and Spain.
"China is a priority for Spain in several ways, from the European point of view, but also from Spain's point of view," she said, adding, "we are trying to focus on the sectors with more productivity for Spain."
