The Chinese mainland and Taiwan did 13.6 billion U.S. dollars' worth of trade in the first month of this year, up 3.6 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
In January, exports from the mainland to Taiwan totaled 3.3 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year drop of 2.4 percent, while imports from Taiwan stood at 10.3 billion dollars, up 6.1 percent, the ministry's figures show.
Taiwan is the mainland's seventh largest trade partner and fifth biggest import source.
In January, actual investment from Taiwan to the mainland dropped 13.7 percent year on year to 170 million U.S. dollars.
