With 23 provincial-level regions having released their first-quarter GDP figures as of Saturday, 13 reported accelerated growth year-on-year and Southwest China's Chongqing was ranked No.1.
Chongqing's GDP growth rate hit 10.5 percent, down 0.2 percentage point year-on-year. South China's Guangdong Province continued to lead the country with the largest GDP of 1.9438 trillion yuan ($282.33 billion).
Northeast China's Liaoning Province, Southwest China's Yunnan Province and North China's Shanxi Province posted GDP growth rates of 2.4 percent, 9.9 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, more than 3 percentage points higher year-on-year. Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region saw a 1.7 percentage point increase.
Eight provinces including South China's Hainan Province and Central China's Henan Province saw declined growth.
