China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) hopes to strengthen cooperation with New Zealand under the Belt and Road Initiative, the HKSAR Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said Friday.

Leung made the remarks at a meeting with visiting Prime Minister of New Zealand Bill English at Government House in central Hong Kong on Friday afternoon.

With the combined advantages of "one country, two systems," Hong Kong could play the role of "super-connector" for New Zealand enterprises to explore the Chinese mainland market, Leung said.

With regard to the close economic and trade links between Hong Kong and New Zealand, Leung expressed the hope that the two places would continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on various fronts and explore more business opportunities by leveraging Hong Kong's huge development potentials under the Belt and Road Initiative.
