Japanese exports to China jump 14.8% to $11 bln in April

Japanese exports to China soared 14.8 percent year-on-year to 1.18 trillion yen ($10.65 billion) in April, with medical products, plastics, automotive parts and nonferrous metals constituting the largest categories of exports, data from Japan's finance ministry showed on Monday.

Japan's total exports grew for a fifth straight month in April, rising 7.5 percent year-on-year to 6.3 trillion yen, ministry data showed.

Japan's exports to Asia rose 12.2 percent year-on-year to 3.4 trillion yen in April, with exports to South Korea, Indonesia and China growing the fastest, according to the ministry. Japan's exports to the three countries grew 22.3 percent, 17.1 percent and 14.8 percent respectively.

In April, Japan exported 519,330 kilograms of medical products to China, along with 202,286 tons of plastics, 49,921 tons of automotive parts and 29,209 tons of nonferrous metals.

Japan's computer exports to China grew 89 percent year-on-year in April - the largest increase of any export category.

In April, Japan's imports increased 15.1 percent year-on-year to 5.8 trillion yen.
