China's Supreme People's Court on Wednesday announced its decision in the long-running intellectual property rights dispute between drinkmaker JDB Group and Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals Corp (GPC).

The court decided that the two companies could share the rights and interests of the red can packaging of the Wanglaoji herbal tea brand on the condition that neither side damages the other's legal interests.

It said that JDB and GPC had both contributed to create the rights and interests of the packaging, news site china.cnr.cn reported Wednesday.

JDB said in a statement posted on its website on Wednesday that the company firmly supports the final ruling and will strengthen efforts to advance the herbal tea industry as well as promote China's herbal tea culture worldwide.
