Chinese bike-sharing services platform Mobike announced on Tuesday it is entering Newcastle, UK, marking the fourth city in the country that the Chinese company has tapped into.
Mobike will start with 1,000 bikes at the beginning of October, the company said in a statement sent to the Global Times on Tuesday. Newcastle will be its 12th international location.
By 2020, it is expected that more than 2 million people in the UK will be using shared bikes.
So far, Mobike has entered countries including the US, Italy, Japan and Singapore. It aims at tapping into 200 cities worldwide by the end of this year.
