Enterprises in Taiwan are stepping up efforts to expand overseas, and the majority of overseas job vacancies are for the Chinese mainland market, a survey showed.

About 81 percent of overseas jobs offered by 844 firms in Taiwan were for the mainland market, followed by Vietnam and Japan, according to a survey by local human resource platform 1111 Job Bank.

Going global has become a trend for enterprises in the export-driven economy as many local manufacturers open plants in lower-cost overseas markets, with overseas career opportunities growing 43.6 percent in the past four years, the survey showed.

Only 7 percent of the respondents have filled their overseas job vacancies, while 93 percent of them still needed professionals to work overseas.

Traditional manufacturing posted the strongest demand among overseas job vacancies, followed by information technology and trade and logistics.

However, only 3 percent of the respondents were willing to pay overseas staff more than twice the pay they would earn at home, and about 17 percent of them said the pay would be generally the same.
