A single-window platform was opened for companies dealing in international trade in southwest China's Chongqing municipality Tuesday.

The "single-window system" enables faster and easier cargo clearance. Companies need not to deal with multiple agencies. They only submit documents at a single location.

Xiao Wenjun, deputy director of the Chongqing port, said 39 types of services are available via the single-window system in the city.

Nine of the services are required for all ports nationwide, and others are local to help companies follow logistics data, check company credibility and make international online settlements.

The single-window system will help companies lower costs by 10 percent and save 10 percent of time needed for clearance. A third of all clearance procedures have been cut, he said.

China is streamlining cargo clearance to smooth foreign trade and improve the business environment. From May this year, the State Council required all ports to adopt single-window systems.
