China launched the one-year countdown to the first China International Import Expo on Sunday, as the country finalizes preparations for the event.
The China International Import Expo is "a significant move for China to open up its market to the world," said Zhong Shan, Minister of Commerce.
The expo shows China's confidence and determination in opening-up as well as promoting an open world economy, Zhong said.
The expo will be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10 next year.
It will include exhibitions and forums, provide a platform to trade goods and services, and engage closer international cooperation.
Over 100 countries and regions are expected to participate, with state leaders, entrepreneurs and scholars from various countries joining the event.
