Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing platform provided by Amazon.com Inc said it did not sell its business in China on Tuesday, contrary to media reports that such a sale will end Amazon's cloud computing business in the country.
"In order to comply with the Chinese law, AWS sold certain physical infrastructure assets to Beijing Sinnet Technology Co," the platform said on its official WeChat account on Tuesday.
Amazon.com's long-time Chinese partner, Beijing Sinnet Technology Co, said it would acquire Amazon's Chinese web services business for up to 2 billion yuan ($301 million), Reuters reported early Tuesday.
Sinnet, which began operating the Amazon services in August 2016, said in a filing late on Monday the deal would help the unit "comply with local laws and regulations and further improve service quality and security."
