Construction of three cross-border road infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and the Liangtang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point will be completed in the coming year, a Hong Kong official said on Sunday.
Chief Secretary for Administration Zhang Jianzong said in an article online that improved cross-border infrastructure projects will bring Hong Kong's role into full play in serving the Belt and Road initiative and actively contributing to the Chinese mainland, the Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.
His article said that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority and local governments have made joint efforts to guarantee the main construction of the bridge and control point can be completed.
The plans will be released as soon as possible.
The construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway was 97 percent complete by the end of October this year, according to the article.
Meanwhile, the boundary control point is also planned to be completed in 2018, linking Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong Province. On Monday, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department released 18 measures to serve the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Among the new rules, there is a provision that the number of plates for vehicles in the area will be increased 2.3 times to 10,000 as the first batch, effective for five years.
