Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. will recall 4,152 Chrysler 300C vehicles in China due to defective airbags, according to China's top quality watchdog.
The recall is for 2006 and 2007 models of Chrysler 300C vehicles manufactured between Sept. 11, 2006 and April 16, 2008, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
Airbags facing the front seats on these vehicles may malfunction when they expand, causing the gas generators to break, and posing safety risks to drivers and passengers, said AQSIQ.
The automaker will replace the gas generators in airbags for the affected vehicles free of charge.
The recall will begin on June 18.
