China's ride-sharing giant Didi Chuxing announced yesterday that it will introduce its own food delivery business, Didi Foodie, in Nanjing, the capital city of eastern China's Jiangsu Province, on June 1. The development comes as part of a rising battle with competitor Meituan.
Nanjing will be the second city that the Beijing-based company has entered with its food delivery service, following a beta launch in Wuxi, about 125 km from Shanghai, in early April.
Didi will continue to implement rigorous food safety measures in Nanjing, working with the local traffic police to provide reliable and fast delivery service to customers, said the company in a statement to China.org.cn.
The company also said it will provide mandatory training to the couriers under its platform to ensure safety and high-quality service.
