China's mobile phone shipments in May reached 37.83 million, edging up 1.2 percent year-on-year, ending 14 months of declines, according to a report published Friday.
Increasing 4G phone shipments were the main contributor to the growth, with shipments reaching 36.05 million, up by 1.7 percent, according to the report by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
The 3G phones shipment plummeted 92.9 percent to 5,000 and 2G phone shipment fell 3.5 percent to 1.78 million.
Smart phone shipments reached 35.98 million, up by 1.7 percent year-on-year, accounting for 95.1 percent of the total shipment in May.
Shipments of Chinese phones reached 34.04 million, dipping 0.5 percent and accounting for 90 percent of the total shipping.
