Chinese travelers have made over 10 million guest arrivals in Airbnb listings around the world since the company was founded ten years ago, according to incoming president of Airbnb China.
Over half of those arrivals occurred in the past year, Peng Tao, who will become president of Airbnb China in September, said Tuesday in a statement on the company's website.
The number of Airbnb listings in China has grown more than 125 percent in the past year. In 2017, the number of Chinese guests traveling with Airbnb grew by 100 percent year on year, according to Peng.
He said the Airbnb China team will continue to "make aggressive investments in China, support hosts, help Chinese travelers, and ensure more guests can visit this amazing country."
Founded in 2008, Airbnb now has an accommodation marketplace offering access to millions of places to stay in more than 191 countries and regions. It officially entered the Chinese market in 2015.
Airbnb announced last week that it has invested 5 million U.S. dollars in Beijing-based house trusteeship platform City Home to help expand the supply of its listings in China.
