After being transported to Russia during the FIFA world cup, crawfish from Hubei )rovince arrived in Dubai by air on Friday to "conquer" local diners, the Wuhan Evening News reported.
The 5,000 crawfish, with a weight of 270 kilograms, departed on July 26 from a crawfish farm in Hubei and arrived in Dubai 25 hours later.
To taste the crustaceans, one of China's favorite dishes, people in Dubai would have to pay 299 dirhams ($81.4) for a 750-gram portion of cooked crawfish, seven times higher than the price in the domestic market.
The report citing an unnamed exporter said the recently exported crawfish was just for a trial and more of them are expected to be available in Dubai in the future.
Previously, Hubei delivered about 100,000 crawfish to Moscow for soccer fans from around the world during the 2018 FIFA World Cup soccer championships, which concluded on July 15.
Hubei alone accounts for 55 percent of the country's crawfish industry, with 1.13 million metric tons in annual output, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in June.
