A total of 327 meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) events were held in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in the second quarter of 2018, the SAR's statistic service said here on Wednesday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that the total number of events decreased by six year-on-year, while the number of participants and attendees increased by 1.7 percent to 411,000.
According to the information provided by the nine exhibition organizers in the second quarter, revenues of the exhibitions amounted to 82.66 million patacas (about 10.25 million U.S. dollars), with 91.3 percent generating from rental of exhibition booths.
Expenditure totaled 69.64 million patacas (about 8.63 million dollars), mainly incurred on public relations, production, construction and decoration, accounting for 21.3 percent and 19.4 percent respectively.
The exhibitions in the second quarter attracted 1,525 exhibitors, and 34 percent of them came from the Chinese mainland.
Regarding the exhibitions organized by non-government organizations, 43.2 percent of the exhibitors (609) were from China's Hong Kong SAR, and professional visitors (10,000) were mainly from Macao, taking up 26.2 percent of the total.
