Sierra Leone’s Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon, has signed an agreement with Golden Dragon, a Chinese transportation company, for the supply of two hundred buses to Sierra Leone.
In his statement during the 2018 Beijing Summit for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which he referred to as an “epoch making event,” the Minister said the new government in Freetown is struggling to provide certain social amenities to its citizens, adding that President Julius Maada Bio is determined to change that.
He told his audience that he had come to China as a demonstration of the government’s relentless commitment to the acquisition of two hundred commuter buses to ease transportation problems in the country.
The Minister said his ministry, the Commission for Privatization, Road Transport Corporation and the Procurement office were all actively involved in negotiations leading to the signing of the agreement.
Minister Kallon added that with himself as Minister of Transport under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, the transport sector will be revived to a wholesome and transparent state.
