FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. has begun recalling 207 imported cars in China over safety risks with gearboxes, according to the country's market regulator.
The recall, beginning on Oct. 23, involves imported Audi R8 models produced between April 18, 2016 and Nov. 9, 2017, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Oil could end up leaking from the gearbox venting system and cause fire risks, the administration said.
The company will replace the gearbox vent hoses of the recalled cars for free.
FAW-Volkswagen is a Jilin-based joint venture between Chinese automaker FAW Group and Germany's Volkswagen Group.
