Bike-sharing company Ofo announced it will deal with the deposit refund issue on the basis of users' applications, according to a report by Beijing Youth Daily.
In a Reminder of Deposit Return Policy released by Ofo on Monday evening, the company said all deposit refund applications, online or offline, will be collected and reviewed and the deposit will be refunded in order of application.
Ofo said users who have submitted online application for deposit refund should enter the deposit refund sequence after its background system collects, reviews and verifies relevant information according to the order of application submission.
For users who register for deposit refund at the company's site, Ofo will incorporate the relevant information collected by it into the online deposit refund sequence in chronological order. If the users have already applied for deposit refund online before they register offline, the previous time shall prevail.
More than a thousand users gathered at Ofo's headquarters in Beijing on Monday to ask for their deposits, the report said.
A user surnamed Li told Beijing Youth Daily he tried to apply for deposit refund two months ago but he still has not get the money back and nobody was answering Ofo's service number.
At the company, Ofo staff members registered users who have not get their deposits back after submitting online applications for more than 15 working days and promised them their deposits and balance will be returned to their Alipay accounts within three working days after the registration is completed, the report said.
"Ofo has a large user base and it is possible that there is a surge in deposit refund applications. We promise to properly handle the deposit refund in order, please wait patiently and rest assured," the company said.
