Starbucks will sell 3,000 'cat's paw' glasses all at once at 3 pm on Friday, the company announced on its official Wechat account.
The company sold out all 1,000 original cat's paw glasses shortly after launch on Feb 28.
Given the enthusiasm of consumers, Starbucks decided to cancel its original plan of selling another 2,000 glasses on March 2 and 3, with 1,000 glasses for each day, and is instead rolling out 3,000 glasses one day earlier.
Some scalpers formed a long queue at 3 am at Starbucks stores for the limited edition glasses, attempting to sell them at nearly 10 times the official sales price of 199 yuan($29.71), Beijing News reported.
The company denied using a "hunger sales" strategy and said the products will be delivered starting April 8.
Consumption experts reminded consumers to be rational during this shopping spree and purchase products from authorized channels to protect their personal interests.
