Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures settled higher on Monday, with soybeans rising on fresh Chinese purchases of U.S. soybeans.
The most active wheat contract for December delivery was up 5.25 cents, or 1.09 percent, to settle at 4.8875 U.S. dollars per bushel. December corn was up 5.25 cents, or 1.42 percent, to 3.74 dollars per bushel. November soybeans were up 1.25 cents, or 0.14 percent, to 8.9875 dollars per bushel.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday morning said that private exporters reported the sale of 256,000 metric tons of soybeans for delivery to China during the 2019/20 marketing year.
CBOT corn futures rose on Monday as support from surging crude oil prices more than offset pressure from favorable weather for late-developing crops.
Wheat futures firmed in tandem with rising corn and as dry conditions in some southern hemisphere wheat areas stoked concerns about smaller harvests in key exporters such as Australia and Argentina.
