Chinese telecom giant Huawei said in an announcement on Thursday that it was disappointed by the U.S. administration's decision to impose a travel ban on its employees.
"Huawei operates independent of the Chinese government," it said in the statement. "We are a private, employee-owned firm. We are disappointed by this unfair and arbitrary action to restrict visas of our employees who work tirelessly to contribute to technological innovation in the U.S. and around the world."
The announcement came after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. administration will impose travel bans on employees of Huawei and other Chinese companies.
