The main construction of Asia's first cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading facility, designed and built by China, was finished on Wednesday in Qingdao, Shandong province, said its operator China National Offshore Oil Corp.
With a maximum oil storage capacity of 60,000 metric tons and a designed durability of 30 years, the offshore oil and gas processing plant Haiyang Shiyou 122 is capable of processing 5,600 tons of crude per day, said the company.
The FPSO facility, an offshore oil and gas processing project capable of crude oil production, storage and export, has become the mainstream production facility for global offshore oil and gas development.
The project is currently under the integrated commissioning stage. After completion next year, it will be applied in China's first deepwater oilfield, the Liuhua 11-1 oilfield, another significant asset in the development of China's deepsea oil and gas resources, it said.
