Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, with its abundant wind and solar resources, is actively utilizing its energy advantages to promote the use of green electricity in its major areas.
"In the first eight months of this year, the total green electricity trading volume in Xinjiang reached 11.74 billion kWh, which is 97.83 times that of 2022, and 2.7 times that of 2023," said a representative from Xinjiang Electric Power Trading Center Co Ltd.
According to the center's data, the monthly green electricity trading volume in July and August reached 158 million kWh and 155 million kWh respectively, achieving over 100 million kWh for two consecutive months.
Xinjiang has been actively promoting the large-scale and intensive development of new energy in the power generation industry in recent years. The installed capacity of wind and solar power generation in the region has now exceeded 80 million kilowatts, ranking the highest in the country both in scale and proportion, providing a solid foundation for green electricity trading growth.
Furthermore, Xinjiang is enhancing the societal use of green electricity through institutional mechanisms. State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co Ltd has established green electricity and green certificate service stations in five regions, offering one-stop services to consumers.
Additionally, focusing on high-profile events, Xinjiang has ensured that more than ten major events, including a Spring Festival Gala in Kashgar and a tourism development conference, utilized 100-percent green electricity.
