Flights between Taiyuan of Shanxi province and Singapore via Sanya of Hainan province was launched by China Eastern Airlines on Tuesday, according to the Shanghai-based carrier.
Operational every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the Taiyuan- Sanya-Singapore flight will depart from Taiyuan in the morning, stop in Sanya and arrive at Singapore's Changi Airport. The return flight will be conducted later on the same date.
The launch of the new route comes amid the hot sale of Chinese video game Black Myth: Wukong, which sparks a traveling boom in culture-rich Shanxi province.
Incomplete statistics has shown that 27 out of the 36 filming locations in the video game are in Shanxi, according to Shanghai local news portal ThePaper.cn.
The new flight looked to explore the growing people-to-people exchanges and expanding trade between China and Singapore, as well as to promote the economic, cultural exchanges and collaborations in Shanxi and Hainan.
